The Jazz Music

Jazz music has along tradition in the American society dating back to the 17th century as a part of the new black culture. Its roots can be traced from the African tribal danced brought to the Caribbean and then to America by African slaves. In the 19th century, minstrel shows evolved and started singing and dancing to jazz music. At first they were shown to black audiences by black dancers. Not long after, jazz music and jazz dancing became very popular that even white audiences and professional white performers have taken over the shows. Today, jazz music and jazz dancing are so popular that specialized dance movements have been developed professionally for glamorous production shows similar to that of the ballet show.

The main instruments for jazz music are: saxophone, piano, double bass, trumpet and drums. These instruments provide the driving force which holds the music and gives its vitality. The music is characterized by varied rhythms and great energy which lures you to just move and dance with the rhythm. Rhythm is one of the most important elements of jazz.
